Triple Crown Hometowns is a Retirement Development Partnership among Lowndes,Brooks, and Lanier Counties, sponsored by local Chambers of Commerce.
This website showcases each of these South Georgia Counties, highlighting their county seats, or as we refer to them, our "Jewels of the South," Valdosta, Quitman, Lakeland and their surrounding communities.
Welcome to the South Georgia area, where reminders of a historic past can be found around most every corner and visions of progress are made into realities each day. A survivor of historic wars, South Georgia continues to show its strength, from preserving the area's history to consistently improving its economy.
Among hometowns of strong leaders, community pride and a timeless spirit, you'll be sure to find a place to call your own. Choose from a colorful pallet of peaceful classic southern communities . . . from quaint towns to metropolitan areas. You'll find something unique in each of our hometowns.

~Dudley & Virginia Chapman, Retiree Newcomer
Come experience Georgia’s Heart and Soul, and
unparalleled, exceptional quality of life, charm with an essence of grandeur
and history, from plantations of cotton and tobacco, or pecans and peanuts . .
. the emergence of the railroad . . .Colleges and universities . . . time has
been good to our hometowns. It’s not
all fried chicken or catfish and grits that makes the South great place to
retire. It’s not just the warm
hospitality, the mild year round climate, a lower cost of living or the proud
military presence, outstanding health care, outdoor recreational opportunities
and abundant cultural venues. It’s a
combination of all these things… and more. It’s community partnership and diversity that makes us strong . . . working and playing together; a winning attitude. . . leadership and team players . . . civic and social organizations . . . businesses . . . continuing to rise above. It’s overcoming challenges and promotion change and growth . . . while preserving the past . . . meeting the needs of citizens and visitors alike . . . following a vision that promotes a bright and prosperous future for all. This is the heart and soul of our collection of spirited
communities . . . our “Jewels of the South” . . . From the smallest to the
largest . . . together. . . these Hometowns make South Georgia a golden place for your golden years!
 Bob
and Beth DeVan
"When Beth and I retired, from Illnois, we looked for an area that had a
hospitable climate and hospitable people.
We have been fortunate to find both of our desires in Valdosta, GA. This
city has an abundance of everything we were looking for – recreation, medical
services, educational opportunities, arts and culture, churches and shopping
venues-minus the traffic and congestion that most communities have that offer
all the amenities we have found here. I love to golf and Beth loves to shop –
but we do enjoy taking classes at the University’s Learning in Retirement
Center together. When we began house
hunting we found a wide variety of housing options available and they’re
building more – new subdivisions and golf courses!" ~
